HomeMy WebLinkAboutFourth of July Steering Committee Minutes 2015-01-214th of July Steering Committee Minutes January 21, 2015 Committee members in attendance: Chris Scarpa Terri Corbett Tony Scarpa Pat McGinnis Barbara Blanchard Kathy Molinaro Michele Scarpa Judy Dealejandro Rufino Ramirez Stacy Scarpa Robin Hall Lucy Woltz, Chamber Liasion Kimberly Ramirez, Staff James Toney, Director of Parks and Recreation Heather Whitty, Staff Michael Boyett, Staff 1. Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 7pm. 2. Communications from the public: Fireworks Company has offered to video the parade route with a drone and has agreed to do it at no cost. Committee stated they thought it was a good idea. The committee was given the volunteer guidebook to sign. 3. Discussion and possible action regarding October 15, 2014 minutes: Robin made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Kathy second the motion and the motion was approved. A. Parade: Are we going to have council members go to the end of the parade route? Pat stated he thought it worked just fine and if they want to walk to the parade route from the Chamber, they can. The grand marshal will have his grandchildren ride with him. Call Rick on the use of the Liberty Bell. James stated that we could have a plane flyover the parade route with a banner, stating “We the People”. Robin made a motion to pay $500 for a flyover for the parade. B. Day: James stated we will be having Level one band perform at $800, do we want to add more amusement rides, committee stated yes. Michelle request to add Porta potties to the day program, 3 regular and 1 handicapp. James stated he would contact Progressive on more porta potties. C. Evening: James stated the band is confirmed; need stage and sound, porta a potties. We will be expanding the rides in the evening. James stated that we could add more fireworks to the light poles to lead to the fireworks displayed if the committee chose to do this or Fireworks on the stage countdown. Committee stated to stay with what we have this year. Committee suggested to get a 4 seated gator, Corey stated he would contact Lansdowne Moody if they do not have one available James will contact UV Country. Michael stated we're using a van from motor trends to transport dignitaries. James stated that the fireworks will be shot from the parking lot at the back pavilion this year. 4.
