1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:20pm.
2. Communication from the public: James stated that he met with Dean with FISD on the bus
route. FISD has 28 drivers for the event; Dean will be there, the night of the event along with
one of his supervisors, their ready to go for the event. Talked about trimming the trees at
Centennial, making sure the small bus will be able to turn around. PD confirmed to have an
officer at the church for safety purposes. James stated that over the years that FISD had a bus
to pick up the Knights of the Columbus at Mary Queen. Dean stated to just send us the
information Dean stated that he will make it happen and asked if they could have a bus in the
parade as well, committee stated yes. No dogs on the bus, we will need to advertise this no
open containers on buses. Might need to have committee member at the location.
3. Discussion and possible action regarding June 8, 2016 minutes: Barbara made a motion to
approve minutes as presented, Michelle second the motion and the motion was approved
unanimously.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding the 2016, 4th of July Celebration
A. Breakfast: Barbara stated we’re good to go; flowers are sponsored by Lary’s. She has all the
table cloths, schedule cashier for the entire day program. We’re good on food; pick up coffee at
6am.
B. Parade: There are 38 entries including Scott’s 3 entries. We need to verify information on
Scott’s entries to make sure we’re prepared. Plan to get with Shari again. Stacy is going to line
them up near Colt. Parade judges, need to get names. Michael stated, dignitaries cars we had
lined up from Motor Trends did not work out, they informed me last week that they will not be
able to loan us the cars for the event. Rufino and James were able to get vehicles for the
parade, half from Lexus and half from McRee Ford. Vehicles will be picked up on Saturday and
taken back on Monday.
C. Day Program: Grass is being mowed on Friday by noon. Awards given away at 12:15. Staff
will be there at booth meeting to help us. Move benches on Friday. 10am painting booths at
Stevenson. Chamber will be open and available for dignitaries if needed.
D. Evening: Everything is confirmed and will need to be reconfirmed. Colors will be presented
by Pack 452. Military flags are purchased and needs to be steamed. Need to get with phoenix
cleaners to get the wrinkles outs putting grommets on flags before getting them steamed.
Rides are going to be shut down for the national anthem. Hand wash station have been
ordered, lights at centennial will be checked.
E. Vote on Mora Spirit and the Evelyn B Newman Award: Mora Spirit award, HEB was chosen
by committee. Evelyn Newman award, Gary Williams and Councilman McGinnis were chosen
for the Evelyn Newman award.
5. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
