HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCAC Minutes 2009-08-11 RegularREGULAR MEETING Senior Citizens Advisory Committee August 11, 2009 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, which was held at the Activity Building in Meeting Room D at 9:00 a.m. on August 11, 2009 with all board members present, constitutes a quorum: Committee Members: Ms. Jean Bilderback- Chair Ms. Si Pate – Vice Chair Ms. Ginger Spade- Regular Member Ms. Sharon Richardson- Regular Member Ms. Rae McMullen- Alternate Member Staff/Liaison: Michael Boyett, Recreation Coordinator Genie Balderaz, Assistant Senior Manager The following items were discussed: 1. Ms. Bilderback called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. 2. The invocation was given by Ms. Si Pate. 3. Ms. Bilderback made a motion and approved the July minutes. The motion carried unanimously. 4. The GPS was purchased with mount kit and a two year service plan for the sum of 293.76. This GPS was purchased because it came with a larger screen and safer for the driver to view the information. The phone can also be answered through the GPS without use of a cell phone. 5. Upcoming trips and events for September a Friday evening trip on September 4 we are going to the Harbour Playhouse in Dickinson. We will depart at 6:30pm and return around 10:30pm. Om Monday September 7 we will be closed for Labor Day. On Tuesday September 8, we are going to Houston for a Metro Rail Trip. We will depart at 9:30am and we will have lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse. ON Thursday September 17 we are having an AARP Class on driver’s safety class. The class starts at 9:30am and ends at 1:30pm. and $12 for AARP members and $14 for non members. On Monday September 21 is our Wii Bowling Tournament that starts at 1-3pm. On Thursday September 24 we are going to the Shimek Garden Tours in Alvin and lunch at Joe’s Bar-B-Q and after that we will go to Froberg’s Farm. On Tuesday, September 29 we will have a popsicle social from 12-1pm. We are going to be giving a deck of cards to all participants who come through the door and for the first 50 that come through the door a free T-Shirt for the Casino Extravaganza. 6. Comments made by the public N/A. 7. Comments made by the committee members on Rules and Regulations didn’t say anything about any solicitations in this building. Staff suggestion was to put a sign outside on the window prohibiting any soliciting. 8. Report from Recreation Coordinator N/A 9. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 10:15 am.
