HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCAC Minutes 2018-12-18 Regular REGULAR MEETING Senior Citizens Advisory Committee December 18, 2018 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, this was held at the Activity Building in Meeting Room D at 9:00 a.m. on December 18, 2018 with all board members present, constitutes a quorum: Committee Members: Ms. Nancy Mastrofrancesco, Chair Mr. Dennis Rundell, Regular Member Ms. Doris Ochoa, Regular Member Ms. Mona Palmer, Regular Member Ms. Yolanda Robles, Regular Member Ms. Dorothy Montz, Regular Member Ms. Vickie Hefner, Regular Member David O’Brien, Regular Member Charlene Mizener, Alternate Staff/ Liaison/Guest: Genie Balderaz, Senior Program Manager Jamie Eubanks, Assistant Senior Program Manager Michael Boyett, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Robert Griffon, Liaison George Cherepes, Project Coordinator The following items were discussed: 1. Ms. Nancy Mastrofrancesco called the meeting to order at 9:05am. 2. The invocation was given by Ms. Doris Ochoa. 3. The November 13, 2018 minutes were approved. 4. Discussion and possible actions regarding the upcoming trips and events: a. Trip sign up regarding resident versus non-resident, should there be a later registration or additional cost? The item will be tabled until further action is needed. b. Monday, January 7, 2019, Wal Mart, 9:30 to 10:30am, free trip; Tuesday, January 15, 2019, National Weather Service Center Houston/Galveston, 9:00am to 2:00pm, $10 per person, lunch on your own at Spring Creek BBQ; Wednesday, January 23, 2019, Butler Longhorn Museum, 9:45am to 2:00pm, Cost: $10 per person, lunch on your own at Cracker Barrel. c. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, Wii Bowling Tournament, 1:00 to 3:00pm; Thursday, January 10, 2019, Guest Speaker: Garland Financial Group, 11:00 – 11:30am, Monday, January 14, 2019, Bingo, 1:00 to 3:00pm; Monday, January 28, 2019, Monday Movie Matinee, 12:30 – 3:00pm; Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Bingo, 1:00 – 3:00pm, sponsored by Garland Financial Group. 5. Discussion and possible actions regarding the Budget and Purchasing: a. Read and Reviewed 6. Report on the Volunteer Luncheon: 7. Report on the Thanksgiving Potluck: Kelly’s provided the food, it was sponsored by Jeter Memorial Funeral Home. A lot of side dishes and desserts. 8. Report from the Assistant Director: a. Stevenson Park pool project – demo will start soon on the restrooms and office. b. Old City Park – parking lot is finished, shade canopies have been put up. c. All walking trails are finished. d. In January, security cameras will be installed throughout the city parks. 9. Comments made by the Public: a. Robert Griffon – Upcoming revenue bond for water and sewer; new recycling program will start in January. 10. Comments made by the Committee Members: 11.
