5. Discussion and possible actions regarding the Budget and Purchasing:
a. Three items listed as donations were actually checks written to pay for BBQ
lunches.
b. It was discussed that a disproportionate amount of money was being spent on
monthly Wii bowling tournaments compared to (for example) the Hand and
Foot Tournaments (8 players every month compared to 16 players every other
month). It was decided to cut the Wii bowling tournaments to every other
month. It was also suggested that we look for sponsors prizes for the
tournaments.
c. Michael suggested that we be thinking about things we can or need to buy by
the end of this fiscal year. Suggestions to be considered included more/better
folding chairs, a new treadmill, new benches for the front porch, a concrete
pad under the picnic tables and more folding card tables and 6’ tables. (It was
also suggested that the “bench row” of red chairs be disposed of as well as the
video arcade game (which might be taken to the Hangar for summer camp).
6. Discussion and possible actions regarding BBQ Fundraiser: Thursday, June 13,
11am - 1pm, sponsored by HomeTown Bank ($800). Food was ordered from Joe’s
BBQ (chopped beef sandwich, potato salad and beans including delivery for 250 for
$1,250, all for the same cost as last year). This was more than we sold but it was
decided not to cut back next year because we don’t want to run the risk of running
out of food. 128 meals were sold for a total of $1,032. In addition, $212 was
received in donations and $800 in sponsorships.
7. Discussion and possible actions regarding the Watermelon Bash and Bingo: a free
event to be held Thursday, July 11, sponsored by Brothers Produce. It will also
include a variety of other fresh fruits and Bingo will be played.
8. Report from the Assistant Director:
a. Our new Assistant Program Manager Shadey Caraveo-Saldana will begin this
Friday, June 21st.
b. The pool restrooms are 98% complete.
9. Comments made by the Public: None
10. Comments made by the Committee Members: None
