Assistant Director’s Report The Assistant Director Michael Boyett reported that Recreation Specialist Katy Blanchard was promoted to Social Media Coordinator for the City of Friendswood, but that she would continue to prepare marketing materials for the department. They have officially filled out the Recreation Specialist position and she would start next week. The Assistant Director Michael Boyett reported that the Daddy Daughter Dance scheduled on Saturday, February 22nd was officially full and had a waitlist of 60 people, which was 50 less than last year. He also pointed out the following details: Michael asked for food orders of the committee members volunteering to help out at the event. Have staff members volunteer to take the pictures, due to issues from last year which resulted in longer delays for getting pictures. Although some volunteers from last year’s event complained about the DJ being too loud, the participants enjoyed the atmosphere she created. As a result, the same DJ was hired. Event logistics, including food and layout, will be the same as last year, however, a new theme will be used for this year’s event. Committee Member David O’Brien said there was a lot of fruit left over. Michael said it was nice because they never run out of fruit and they are able to give some out to people to take home after the event. As per suggestions following last year’s event, Michael thanked everyone and this time sturdier plates will be purchased to avoid the same issues experienced last year. This year there will be an additional 10 high school student volunteers to help with the setup and cleanup of the event. Michael reviewed the times and scheduling for staff and volunteers to arrive for setup, he also described the procedure for patrons to arrive and when to begin the event. Procedures for check-in were discussed by committee members as to how to best proceed. It was decided that food would be served as patrons arrive, so that food would still be warm, in order to prevent complaints of cold food as in past years. 7. Comments 8. Adjournment Committee Member Dorothy Montz moved to adjourn the meeting and Committee Member Doris Ochoa seconded. This meeting was adjourned at 9:30 am.
