Call to Order Committee Chair Nancy Mastrofrancesco called the meeting to order at 9:05 am. 2. Invocation The invocation was given by Committee Member Charlene Mizener. 3. Communications from the Public The members of the Tuesday/Thursday exercise class were unhappy that there are multiple events on the same days that their classes are being held, which will cause their classes to be cancelled. Since most of the events will begin at 11:00 am, Committee Member Dorothy Montz, on behalf of the members, asked if it was possible to have their exercise class from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Friendswood Senior Center Program (FSCP) staff explained that this wouldn’t be possible due to the amount of preparation needed to be done prior to each event. Committee Member Vickie Hefner suggested using one room to do stretching for those that were still interested in doing exercise, but feels that not many would attend and would rather stay home getting ready for the event. FSCP staff agreed to allow for an open room to be available, on a trial basis, for those that would still like to come exercise. FSCP Staff also agreed to look at dates and potentially shifting some events to Wednesdays in order to avoid a continued scheduling conflict with the same classes each month. Wii Tournament which used to be held every month, is no longer occurring as often. Committee Member Vickie Hefner brought up that monthly Wii Tournaments were an issue before, given that the same person was always winning and receiving the gift card. FSCP staff Wii bowling will be added for practice, however, no prizes will be awarded. The Bingo sponsored by Linda Richard was full the last time, and Committee Member Dorothy Montz asked if hosting it in the main hall would be possible to better accommodate all participants She felt this would also allow for card players to stay in the card room. FSCP staff agreed to set up the main hall for Bingo next time. Committee Member Mona Palmer said multiple people have asked for the center to get a blood pressure machine like the ones found in drug stores. Most agreed it would be too bulky and expensive. On the other hand, portable blood pressure cuffs are available and more affordable. Robert Griffon stated that he had nothing to report, but is available to relay messages back to the council regarding any information about the seniors program 4. Approval of Minutes A.
