CALL TO ORDER Committee Chair Charlene Mizener called the meeting to order at 9:04 am. 2. INVOCATION The invocation was given by Committee Member Doris Ochoa. 3. COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC Assistant PARD Director Michael Boyett communicated that a member had called with several complaints regarding the senior program. The first complaint was regarding the Pickleball introduction and it being offered during Game Days. The member felt that there wasn’t enough space to offer that activity at the center. Mr. Boyett explained that Pickleball was being offered to expose the sport to other members. Once the sport had more member interest, staff would decide what day, time and location would fit best on the schedule. The second complaint was that there are too many new members getting in the way of the intermediate Line Dancing class on Fridays. The member requested assistance in moving these new members out of the way. Mr. Boyett responded that he would discuss possible options with staff, however he felt that this would not be the best way to welcome these new members, by asking them to move out of the way when they are trying to learn. The third complaint was regarding the social distancing stickers on the floor of the Main Lobby. These stickers have now been removed and will be placed again as needed in the future. The member’s final complaint, was that classes are being shifted from their regular rooms too often. Mr. Boyett explained that these programs are being offered in an activity building, and that in order to promote and accommodate new activities, class are often shifted around to find the best fit. Mr. Boyett was understanding of members not liking change but asked the committee members for help encouraging the members to be more flexible and understanding of new activities and new members at the center. Mr. Boyett also encouraged members to discuss things with staff so that staff are given a chance to explain the changes and potentially work things out a different way. Mr. Boyett will discuss with FSCP staff regarding adding a section, Communication from Committee Members, on upcoming agendas.
