7-10-85
A meeting of the 4th of July Steering Committee was held on
7-10-85 at 7:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building. The fol-
lowing business transpired:
FLAG FUND - The Squires collected $308.00, The souvenir booth
collected $66.00, Coenco donated $100.00. The committee
will now put plan "y" into action which is to sell raffle
tickets at local banks for Laurie Whitehead's original
watercolor of the Three Flags of Friendswood. Judi Todd,
Bette Jane Wells and Choice Kinchen will visit our local
organizations.
PROMOTIONAL SALES - To date, $4,793.07 has been deposited.
PARADE LINE-UP- Dave Zwingman gave a printed report. Due to
rain approximately 20% of the entries did not show. The
fire dept. and dignitaries should be given a confirmation
next year so the flow of traffic will go more smoothly.
JUDGES- Perhaps next year the judges could ride in the parade
with the Honor Guard and be let off at the judges stand.
GATHERING- Paid for dignitaries luncheon out of the Gathering.
FIREWORKS- If the fireworks should be changed due to rain, a
sign should be put up at the highschool or have the P.D.
to direct traffic.
ALL WENT WELL !!! NO MAJOR LAST MINUTE PROBLEMS!!!
IT HAS ONLY RAINED TWICE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS SO WE DON'T HAVE TO
WORRY ABOUT IT FOR A FEW YEARS!!!!!
