HomeMy WebLinkAboutFourth of July Steering Committee Minutes 1985-06-26STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING 6-26-85 A meeting of the 4th of July Steering Committee was held on 6-26-85 at 7:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building. The following business transpired: GATHERING - Alex put firewood at Leavesley Park last Saturday. Mayor Lowe will announce the employee recognition awards. The plaques for the employees have been ordered. Ben Ma- lek wasn't able to get a band for the Gathering; taped music will be played. The steering committee was invited to drop by for breakfast the morning of the 3rd. BREAKFAST- The breakfast will be from 8:30 - 9:30 at the Family Life Center of the Baptist Church. Bette Jane and Judi will move the centerpieces from the Life Center to the Fire Station. Paul Fronczek and Donna Cashion stationed at the Family Life center until the parade starts; at judge's stand during the parade, then at the Fire Station. Donna Cashion will have a radio. JUDGES- Dave Zwingman will furnish the judges with an entry form for judging the entries. Participation ribbons will be given to the bike riders, lst,2nd,3rd place ribbons and money orders given at the Park. The child's name, parent's name, address, and phone number must be written in case the winner doesn't pick up the prize at the gazebo. After the bike contest has been judged, the judges will go to the stand at the Fwd. Friends Church by way of Mayor Lowe's car (driven by Kathleen Holt). FLOATS -Two flat bed floats will be needed for volunteers. Lynn Chatham made arrangements for one, John Echoff will contact Pat Allen for storage of the floats. Donna Cashion will purchase the decorations at Southern Import for the second float. The police dept. will transport Paul Fronczek and Donna Cashion from the Family Life Center to the judges stand. LUNCHEON- Noon, the steering committee, dignitaries, judges and thunderbird car club have been invited. Evelyn Newman, B.J. Wells and Judi Todd will decorate from 3:00 - 4:00 at the fire station. Evelyn will get eating utensils, Choice Kinchen will provide the brisket. Steering Committee Meeting 1-21-15 p. 2 DISCUSSION - The Fwd. Flyers can sale raffle tickets at the park but not during the parade as they requested. The flags will be picked up by Benny or his committee on July 3rd. The money collected for the flag should be given to Ben Malek or Choice Kinchen at the fire station. David Zwingman needs to get copies of the float line-up to Donna Cashion on July 3rd to make copies for the judges. Donna Cashion will double check on p.a. system and drinks for the judges stand. Also she will double check with Tom Lay for p.a. for gazebo and with police dept. At 9:30 on the 4th the Squires will begin collecting along the parade route. At the end of the parade (Stevenson Park) the volunteer floats park behind the fire station. The promotional items are at the fire station. Janet Sobey and Marge Ulsh will set up on the 4th. Chuck and Anne Talbot and Don and Marge Ulsh will host the Volun- teers by meeting them at the Family Life Center, giving them their name tag, helping them on the floats, providing water coolers for them on the floats and riding on the Float. Old-timers can wait inside the Family Life Center until 9:45. Stakes should be on the floats for the old-timers to hold on. A bus will be provided for the volunteers to go back to the baptist church.
