6-19-85
A meeting of the 4th of July Steering Committee was held on
6-19-85 at 7:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building. The fol-
lowing business transpired:
HONORING VOLUNTEERS - 84 volunteers have been selected from the
nominee forms by Paul Fronczek and his appointees. Kathy
Erminger, Janet Sobey, Marge Ulsh and Kathleen Holt are in
the process of phoning the volunteers to get a count of how
many will be riding on the Volunteer Float. Paul Fronczek
will notify the nominees not selected.
FLAG FUND - There is $800.00 plus money around town in the can -
asters. Small .03 flags will be given out as money is col-
lected for the Friendswood Flag. 18 Squires will collect
along the parade route. A brass plaque has been ordered
to go around the U.S. Flag pole with "donated by TCB".
GATHERING- $800 has been donated but around $800 more is needed.
The committeewill begin accumulating supplies the first of
next week. They plan to feed around 500 people. Ben Malek
is looking into having a band perform.
JUDGES- The police dept. will set-up a p.a. system at the judges
stand. The judges will ride in a convertible for a trip to
the judges stand and to look at the floats prior to the be-
ginning of the parade. The judges will be: Bill Fuss, Carl
Smith, Frances Williams, Mary Giesler, Harold Doiron; the
emcee will be Paul Schrader.
The T-shirt committee will take the flowers from the church to the
fire station for the luncheon.
