used in the brochure. He stated he would have it typed and
delivered to Paul Fronczek as soon as possible.
4. CITY FLAG FUND AND COMMITTEE HEAD
To pay for the expense of the flag, it was suggested a Flag
Fund be set-up throughout the community for donations from
individuals, organizations and companies. Benny Baker will
head this committee as well as select flag size as soon as
possible. He is to advise Donna Cashion on the size to order
as soon as possible. A letter regarding the flag fund should

5. PRE-1900 BATHING BEAUTY CONTEST
It was proposed to the steering committee that a Pre-1900 Bathing
Beauty Contest be part of the festivities in the park on the 4th
of July. Paul Fronczek will investigate it further. The dis-
cussion of the contest will be on the next meeting's agenda.
6. BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Donna Cashion was informed that Ken Hoppe (not present) would
head this committee. It was her understanding that area bands
would be invited to participate in the parade. A cash prize
would be awarded to the Booster Club of the winning high school
band. Evelyn Newman recommended that if donations from local
merchants weren't favorable perhaps the money in the budget for
the city flag could be used for the award. Donna Cashion will
contact Ken Hoppe for a progress report on the band contest.
7. GAZEBO ENTERTAINMENT
Marge Ulsh and Evelyn Newman will seek entertainers to perform
from 11:00 to 1:30 on the 4th. Paul Fronczek suggested perhaps
strolling jugglers, clowns blowing balloons, etc. would work well
as "fill-ins". Evelyn Newman stated the Braz Clowns might be
interested in this.
8. JUDGE SELECTION
Kathleen Holt and Donna Cashion will select judges. Recommenda-
tions from the steering committee members included a civic club
leader, maybe an outside celebrity, Paul Schrader, Laurie White-
head, or John Tirado. It was emphasized that prior judging ex-
perience was necessary when making the final selection.
