4/1/85
A meeting of the 4th of July Steering Committee was held in the
Council Chambers of City Hall at 6: 00 p.m. on 4/1/85. The fol-
lowing business was transacted:
1. DRAFT BUDGET - The draft budget was reviewed and ac-
cepted. The steering committee proposed to submit the
budget to council for approval. Lynn Chatham is to con-
tact Community Nat' l. Bank to donate the 21 float trophies
but that item shall remain in the budget for submittal
to Council.
2. DRAFT BUDGET PAGE 2 - PROMOTIONAL ITEMS - The following
changes were made by the committee:
Caps: To use the Friendswood patch on white, gold and
blue caps.
Visors: To sell white visors with "IClFriendswood" in
blue letters with a red heart unless this raises
the price quote, then the lettering will be in red.
T-Shirts: To order and sell two types of shirts. 300
shirts with the three flag emblem of Barry Gray' s
on the front, 500 shirts with the parade scene.
Muas: There are 612 mugs at the public works building
that will be sold for $3. 00 each or 4 for $10. 00.
With the above quantity changes, the committee recommended
submittal of page 2 of the draft budget to Council for
approval.
3. BROCHURE - Paul Fronczek presented a preliminary layout of
the brochure. The front will picture a volunteer holding
a flag. Mayor Lowe will write the prolegomenon for the in-
side. The brochure will basically be the same format as
last year.
4 . STEERING COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN - A list of committee heads for
various responsibilities was distributed. There is still a
need for more volunteer assistance. Kathaleen Holt will head
the bicycle contest. Choice Kinchen volunteered to head the
luncheon.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS - Lynn Chatham announced Macy' s Dept. Store
will be entering a large float with helium filled stars
and clown costumes. Mark Clark announced the same firing
location for the fireworks display can be used again this
year.
