MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
FRIENDSWOOD BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS
May 5, 1981
The Friendswood Board of Adjustments met in a meeting on Tuesday May 5, 1981 at 8:00 p.m. in the Public Works Building with the following members present:
E.Dykes -Acting ChairmanR.NelsonH.WhitakerL.Vice
With a quorum present, the following request was heard.
The Chairman appointed L. Vice as a regular member for the meeting.
FRANK J. FIDELIBUS -Sign Variance 103 S. Friendswood Dr. (gunshop) RICHARD B. HARDIN -Sign Variance 103 S. Friendswood Dr. (seafood market)
Due to the fact that these two signs are within the same center housing a group of businesses, the two request were heard together.
Mr. Fidelibus' wall sign for the gunshop is 48 square feet. Mr. Hardins' wall sign for the seafood market is also 48 square feet. They explained that the businesses set back 100 feet from the road and they were unaware of the ordinance at the time the signs were made. The roof of the building is flat and causes the problem of the sign projecting above the roof.
The board took the request into consi deration and after discussion made a motion.
MOTION: (Whitaker) to grant the variance allowing the wall signs for the fish market and gunshop at 103 S. Friendswood Drive to be 48 square feet and a background to be constructed behind the Beauty Shop Sign to bring all of the signs in the center in uniformity for the duration of the grandfather clause for the sign on the Barber Shop. Also, the removal of the street sign for the Beauty Shop. Second: Nelson Vote: UNANIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIED
