Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following present constituting a quorum: Chairman Regular Member Regular Member Regular Member Alternate Member Alternate Member City Attorney Building Official Staff Liaison Ron Decker David O'Brien, III Steve Knis Elisabeth Wagner Mike Czarowitz Linda Thornton Alison Holland Frank Manigold Melinda Welsh Regular member Greg Hughes, alternate members Mike McDonald and Ric Miller were absent from the meeting. Chairman Ron Decker called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 7:00 PM-REGULAR SESSION Chairman Decker appointed alternate member Linda Thornton as a regular voting member for this meeting. Chairman Decker explained the process of the public hearing. ·Chairman Decker called the hearing to order to receive public input regarding seeking a variance of rear setback from the requirement of 25 ft., for prope1ty located at 5246 Apple Blossom, situated in Lot 12, Block 25, Section 5, Wedgewood Village Subdivision, Harris County, Texas, to build an addition to the main structure of the house that would be encroaching into the required 25 ft. rear building setback line by 7 ft. Variance request from the requirements of Appendix C, Section 7, Regulation Matrix Residential District 7.Q.3 of the Friendswood City Code. John Hanna, 5246 Apple Blossom, stated he is the applicant and is looking to build a room to house his elderly mother-in-law who is ill. His wife is her primary caretaker. They came before the Zoning Board of Adjustment last month and their request was denied. They moved the room addition around from last month's request to make it a smaller setback. He further stated that he just finished 5 treatments of chemotherapy and his lung cancer has slowed but liver cancer has not slowed down. His wife needs to be around to help care for him and not driving around to care for her mother. Bill Pittman stated he is the contractor for the Hanna's, the room addition will match the existing house, will go over the building line by 7 feet, should not hmt the neighborhood, is not obtrusive, will not hurt the value of the house. 1 l ; 03/27/2007 ZBOA 011 **Boardmember O'Brien moved to approve the variance as requested for property located at 5246 Apple Blossom. Seconded by Boardmember Wagner. The motion was approved 4-1 with Boardmember Knis opposed. **Boardmember Thornton moved to approve the minutes for the February 27, 2007 meeting with amendments. Seconded by Boardmember Wagner. The motion was approved unanimously.
