Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas, with the following present constituting a quorum: Chairman Regular Member Regular Member Regular Member Alternate Member Alternate Member Alternate Member Alternate Member •City Attorney Building Official Staff Liaison Greg Hughes David O'Brien, III Steve Knis Delvin Kendrick Carol Thelen Mike Czarowitz Linda Thornton Glen Grayban Bobby Gervais Frank Manigold Sharon Parks Boardmember Ronald Dyer was absent from the meeting. Chairman Greg Hughes called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 7:00 PM-REGULAR SESSION Chairman Hughes explained the process for holding the public hearing. Chairman Hughes appointed alternate member Carol Thelen as a regular voting member for this meeting due to regular member Ronald Dyer's absence. Chairman Hughes called the hearing to order to receive public input regarding a variance for property located at 1805 Coronado (Tract C), Tract 10, in block 7, of Mission Estates Subdivision, a subdivision in Galveston County, Texas of required twenty-five (25) foot rear yard setback, and the 10 foot side setback of Appendix C -Zoning, Section 7.Q.3, Regulations Matrix Residential Districts of the Friendswood City Code to allow a wooden deck patio with cover already constructed beyond the rear yard setback line. David Vlasek stated that he is the applicant and is asking for a variance for the rear and side setbacks on a back patio cover and a deck on the side of his house which was built to allow wheelchair access because of his wife's disability. He stated that he did not obtain a permit from the City. Chairman Hughes asked if anyone would like to speak in favor of this request. Chairman Hughes asked if anyone wanted to speak against the proposed request. Mark Parmenter, Friendswood resident, stated he is a neighbor who lives behind Mr. Vlasek and fmther stated he would like to know how the deck would look when it is finished and stated he also wanted to know if a fence could be constructed because the deck is not an attractive structure, is concerned about
