' I MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD PLANN ING AND ZONING COMMISSION Nov ember 21, 1985 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission held a regular meeting on Thursday, November 21, 1985, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. The following subjects were considered. Todd Cress Ballard Baker Holt Beggs (8:00) Councilman Prihoda Monday, November 18, 1985, the oath of office was administered to Kent Ballard and Benny Baker as Com missioners to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Commissioners Ballard and Baker replaced Commission ers Mary Brown and Ra lph Miller their term of office expired November 1, 1985. With a quorum present and with Beeth absent, the following business was transacted. ELECTION OF A TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN MOTION: (TODD} To elect Denny Holt as a temporary Chairman to the Planning and Zoning Commission until January, 1986. SECOND: (CRESS) VOTE: UNANIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIED FRIENDSWOOD VILLA�E SHOPPING CENTER -F.M. 518 -BRUCE WILLIAMS Bruce Williams presented a drawing of the Friendswood Village Shopp ing Center's proposed addition and renovations. I \ I I \ i Page 2 November 21, 1985 Friendswood Village Shopping Center The plat shows a distance of 29' between the back of the existing building and the property line. The developers have shown parking within the 29' at the back of the building. The ordinance requires a 10' buffer (green) and an 8' fence between the Commercial and Residential which would require a variance from the Board of Adjustments in order to have parking behind the building instead of a 10' buffer. Mr. Williams indicated he wo_uld not like to go the variance route because of the time frame on his project. He would prefer to ·remove the parking from the rear of the bu ilding. NEW MEETING TIME The Planning and Zoning Commission agreed to change the starting time of the Planning and Zoning Commission meetings to 7:00 P.M .. DON ROBERTS -PAR KWAY AND CASTLEWOOD PARK Mr. Roberts addressed the Commission saying he failed to get on ·the Planning and Zoning Commission agenda 7 2 hours prior to t-.he. meeting in order for the Commission to take action.on his project. He asked if the Commission would have -a special meeting next week .• Because of the Thanksgiving Holiday the Commission is unable to schedule a special meeting. The next regular meeting would be December 5, 1985. MR. GARTRELL -PRE APP -WINDING WAY AND LEISURE LANE - 5 ACRES Mr. Gartrell presented a drawing to the Commission for Mr. and Mrs. Horn who are interested in developing a low density multi-fa mily develop ment with 6 units per acre . Mr. Gartrell told the Commission there are two pipe lines located on the property which require a 40' set back for a structure. Mr Gartrell was advised that the property needed to be platted to meet the building lines of the ordinance. I f I I I ! Page 3 November 21, 1985 LETTER TO COUNCIL The Planning and Zoning Commission will send a letter to the City Council recommending Glen Cress to serve as their representative on the Recon ciliation Committee.
