Home My WebLink AboutP&Z Minutes 1977-12-08 Public HearingMINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION December 8, 1977 Proper notice having been given, the Friendswood Planning 8 Zoning Commission held a hearing at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 1977, at the City Hall to consider proposed revisions to the Zoning Ordinance #291 relative to controls on signs and billboards. The following members of the Commission were present: Chairnnan Tracy Spears Commissioners: Robert Mora Bob Phillips Harold Rawley Ray Utley P. J. Mize With a quorum present, and with none absent, Chairman Spears opened the hearing by stating the general purpose and outlining the method of procedure to be used. He then introduced Doris Heard, Chairperson of the Sign Research Committee of the Community Appearance Board, who explained how this advisory group came up with the proposed sign regulations. All attendees who wished were then given an opportunity to voice their opinions on the subject. Those speaking were: Joe Tennison, Bayou Gardens & Mamy's Florists William Patton, Homeowner 8 Champion of the People Betty Shore, Citizen Paul Chapman, Mobil Service Station Richard Atchison, Chamber of Commerce Jean Welch, Member of Sign Committee Jerry Knight, Citizen Cliff Schaffer, Owner of Clear Lake Signs (Company) Wally Welsh, Citizen Billy Glines, Operator, Mustang Auto Parts Charlie Renfro, Owner of Outdoor West Advertising Co.
