HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1977-08-23 SpecialMINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION August 23, 1977 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a special meeting on Tuesday August 23, 1977 at 7:30 p.m., in the City Hall with the following members present: T. Spears - Chairman R. Utley R. Mora R. Phillips P. J. Mize J. Phillips With a quorum present the following business was transacted: PROPERTY OWNERS SCHOOL REPRESENTIVES Grace Boyer Harold Whitaker John T. Bush Jack Bridwell M. F. Krsh Ruby Ross David Brakebill Charles Baumgartner SCHOOL PROPERTY DECISION - PROPERTY AT SHADOWBEND AND WOODLAWN Mr. Tracy Spears informed the representives of the school and the property owners that the Commission agreed the rezoning classification should be Specific -Use, instead of the original request of C-1. They felt it would best suit the purpose and be of more advantage to the property owners. Mr. Harold Whitaker explained the two phases of the school plan. The first phase would be the construction of tennis courts and backing with a wind screen and parking for 36 busses, The second phase would intail parking for 72 busses. Mr. Whitaker also informed everyone the tennis courts would not be lighted. The property owners were in agreement to the plans, and asked for assurance that they would be carried out as to the design plan. The Commission informed the property owners the plan would be carried out as presented. After a lengthy discussion a motion was made. MOTION: (R. Mora) To accept as Specific -Use FISD bus storage facility and tennis courts, (tracts 4 and 5 out of lot 11 block 1 of the Friendswood Subdivision located at Woodlawn and Shadowbend) only to be carried out as planned with a letter from the School Board stating as to where the first phase begins. Second: J. Phillips Vote: Unanimous ROR MOTION CARRIED SCHOOL DECISION - PROPERTY AT FM 2351 AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL The Commission informed the school representives that without an idea of purpose they could not agree to rezoning just to re-evaluate the property, but if a potential buyer would make the request and present his plans to the Commission it would be met more favorably. The School Board withdrew their request. A motion was made for adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m. ecret 6y APPROVED:
