HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1976-08-19 RegularMINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION August 19, 1976 The Friendswood Planning 6 Zoning Commission met in a Regular Meeting on Thursday August 19, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall with the following members present: Clyde Raney - Chairman Leah North Ken Fossler Ray Utley With a quorum present, and Bob Phillips, Jerry Phillips and Tracy Spears absent the following business was transacted: APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Minutes of a Regular Meeting on August 5, 1976 approved as corrected. (The correction being detailed information of the W.T. Carter re -zoning) DISCUSSION - CITY MANAGER INTEROFFICE COMMUNICATION ON 5 LOT SUBDIVISION Mr. Olson, City Attorney has advised the City Council that the Planning 9 Zoning Commission should exercise its right of variance when the commission feels such action is warranted. A proposal was submitted by Councilman Lay giving Auil.dlines for use of the variance. The commission members would prefer the condition for variance be spelled out in the form of an amendment to the subdivision ordinance. ADJOURNMENT - Motion was made for adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. f� z Secretary Approve MEMORANDUM TO: Planning & Zoning Commission FROM: City Secretary DATE: September 8, 1976 SUBJECT: Petition by Property Owners to Change Name of Winding Way to Shadwell The City Council has discussed your recommendation that the name of that portion of Winding Way from FM 518 to Coward's Creek be renamed. As you are aware, a street and bridge bond election has been proposed for consideration in the near future. One item which has been mentioned as a possible inclusion in such a bond issue is a bridge across Coward-'s Creek which would make Winding Way a continuous street from FM 518 to Briarmeadow and beyond. In view of this possibility, it is the feeling of the Council that no name change be made at this time.
