HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1978-02-16 Public Hearingn [ ] �J MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION February 16, 1978 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Corrmission net in a public hearing on Thursday February 16, 1978 at 8: 00 p.m. in the City Hall with the following rrembers present: T.Spears -ChairmanH.RawleyJ.TarrR.PhillipsP. J. MizeR.MoraR.Utley With a quorum present the following business was transacted: PUBLIC HEARING -Rezoning lots 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, of the Van Pelt Subdivision out of the B. S. & F. Survey No. 5, Galveston County, Abs. 625 from R-1 to Specific-Use Television Station, Church, Christian School, and Houses for needy. Mr. Lupo explained to the public his intensions for rezoning the property at Lundy Lane. He stated at the present time the tower and church was his main concern. The other items are to be considered at a later date. The tower would be constructed at a height of 1,196 feet, and be used for a 24 hour Christian station for all derominations. The Church would be constructed in the next two years. The chairrran asked the public if they had any comments on the rezoning request. They are as follows: Mr. Gould -Commented he was interested in the type of buildings to be constructed and questioned the zoning classifications. Mrs. Bernic e Box -asked about a second entrance to the property and land alotrrent for septic tanks. Vice-President of the Sportsman Club -asked if there would be a problem with the target range next to the property. Prior to the hearing the City Attorney was consulted as to the magnitude of the project. It was decided plats on the plans for the various items of the project would be needed for the entire 46. 8 acres. The Corrmission inf orrred Mr. Lupo of this information. [ \ [ I J Mr. Lupo agreed to rezoning only 7 acres for the present church and tower. The Corronission advised him they would need a plat of this 7 acres ahowing homes within 1500 feet of the tower. The tower bases WJuld also need �o be depicted. Mr. Lupo stated "Stainless" would be the contractor for the tower and be :responsible for the safety of the structure . The Corronission informed Mr. Lupo a blueprint of the tower stamped by an engineer would be needed . The subject was tabled until the next meeting of March 2, 1978. .APPRbVEb:
