HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1979-02-01 Regularn l l MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION February 1, 1979 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a regular meeting on Thursday February 1, 1979 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall with the following members present: T.Spears -ChairmanD.HoltR.Phillips·H.RawleyJ.TarrR.-WetzelR.Wicklander With a quorum present the following business was transacted: R. J. Blanken was also present. FRIENDSWOOD JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Ted Thomas presented plans for the new wing to the Friendswood Jr. High School. This wing will have additional class rooms and a snack area. There will be more parking facilities available and a new bus route to the new building. \ ' RAY BRADLEY (Pre-App) MOTION: Second: VOTE: (R. Phillips) approval for new wing to the Friendswood Jr. high School. (H. Rawley) Unanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED Mr. Bradley.presented a pre-plat look at a Subdivision proposed at Shadowbend and Sedora. This would be a total of 16 lots and each lot a little over a½ acre. Mr. Bradley proposes to build a road from Shadowbend to the end of his property line and a culdusac. The Commission asked Mr. Bradley to bring plats to be reviewed. AUTUMN HILLS NURSING HOME Mrs. Beam informed the Commission the 10 proposed parking spaces in front of the home would not be sufficient and they could not live with it due to the many employees and visitors and volunteer workers. n [ l l \ Minutes of a Regular Meeting 2. February 1, 1979 AUTUMN HILLS NURSING HOME CONT. Mrs. Beam stated, due to the street construction, it is not possible to get an ambulance to their Heritage Entrance. MOTION: Second: VOTE: KENT BALLARD -MONTESSORI SCHOOL (R. Phillips) to rescind thoughts in letter of parking dated 1-10-79 and permit angula: parking per the plat and to use rear gate of home for emergency entrance and exit only during construction and should also investigate parking on north of Heritage adjacent to Marys Creek for a minimal fee with the city. D.HoltUnanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED Mr. Ballard presented plans for a Montessori School located at 805 Friendswood Drive. The school will have approximately 2600 sq. ft. including the garage. There will be about 35 students enrolled. MOTION: Second: VOTE: COMPASS HOME INC. (J. Tarr) approval for Montessori School D.HoltUnanimous FOR MOTION CARRIED Mr. H. Seaborn came before the Commission to discuss building duplexs bounded by Skyview and Quaker Drive. There would be 16 buildings and 32 units out of 5.4 acres. Surplus ground would be used for recreational. Houses would be fenced and have 25' setbacks. Each unit a two car garage. Mr. Seaborn did not have a plat and asked the Commission for comments. The chairman advised Mr. Seaborn to bring a plat and show where the driveways will be located and suggested the houses face into the interior with an interior street.
