HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1981-07-16 Regularl MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION July 16 ,· 1981 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a regular meeting on Thursday July 16, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall with the following members present: R.Wetzel -ChairmanG.CressC.BeggsL .. BrownR.Atcheson With a quorum present, and T. Haansz and B. Glines absent the following item was considered: DRAINAGE RESOLUTION The City Engineer along with Mr. Shumilac of the Drainage District met with. the Commission to discuss the Drainage Ordinance. They reviewed all the notes pertaining to such. It is to be prepared into typed form for furthur review. A motion was made for adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 11:20 p.m. � ·1 l MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION July 16, 1981 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a Public Hearing on Thursday July 16, 1981 at 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall with the following members present: R.Wetzel -ChairmanG. CressC.BeggsL.BrownR.Atcheson With a quorum present, and T. Hannsz ahd B; Glines absent the following was heard. PUBLIC HEARING -Rezoning from R-2 to C-1 a·tract out of lot 11, block 2, Friendswood, Sarah McKissick or J. R. Williams League, Galveston County, Texas. The Chairman asked Mr. New to state to the public his reasons for the request. Mr. New Sr. -stated he has had his electrical business for 27 years and it fell under the grandfather clause at the present time. He plans to retire and sell the business to his son but as it is presently zoned he could not expand. The chairman asked for comments from the public. Mr. Larry Ridge -no objection Mr. Samons -no objection with no other comments, the hearing was closed. r u MINUTES OF •A PUBLIC HEARING FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION July 16, 1981 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a Public Hearing on Thursday July 16, 1g01 at 8:00 p:m. in the City Hall with the following members present: R.Wetzel -ChairmanG.CressC.BeggsL.BrownR.Atcheson With a quorum present, and T. Haansz and B. Glines absent, the following was heard. PUBLIC HEARING -Deleation of Requirement 1. There is to be no access from Shady Nook Street as set forth in Ordinance #208, pertaining to a 1.815 acre tract out of lot 12, block 2, Friendswood Subdivision in the J'. R. Williams or Sarah McKissick League, Galveston County, Texas. The chairman asked the representives of Autumn Hills to state their request. Mr. Solomon -stated it was necessary to use the back entrance instead of the front for deliverys. It was dangerous to lock the gate and have emergency vehicles concerned with a key. He stated the home was designed for delivery to the back. The widening of Quaker depleted the parking spaces. He-felt the libility to patients and vehicles being hit in the rear of the building would be great. He also stated on May�l2, a meeting was held with the residents living on Shady Nook. They a�ked for maintance to the dumpsters with a water line, bagging of trash, and prevention of the insect problems. The home agreed to remedy these problems if Shady Nook be opened. The chairman asked for the opposition to speak. / l Ken Camp -stated there was adequate turning area for the trucks and a Sount entrance should be provided. He stated the planned approach for the Fire Department is through Heritage and Quaker. He stated he would prefer a parking lot to be constructed in the rear, rather than to have Shady Nook open. He bought his home on a dead end street and asked it to remain as such. Mr. Ken Camp -stated the emergency vehicles on making the curve on Shady Nook go into the yard.
