MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETTNG
FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSTON
September 3,.1981
The Friendswood Planning & Zoning Commission met in a regular meeting on Thursday September 3, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Room with the following members present:

With a quorum pres�nt the following items of business were considered:
DISCUSSION / Memorandum to Charter Review Commission
The Planning Commission discussed the items to be passed to the Charter Review Commission which they would like to see reviewed.
JOINT PUBLIC HEARING (see attached minutes)
RECOMMENDATION/PUBLIC HEARING
MOTION: (Atcheson) to recommend the rezoning of 10 acres of land situated in lot 1, Burg�is Subdivision in the B. S. & F. Survey, Section 6, abstract 645, Galveston from R-1 to C-1 as requested. Second: Brown Vote: UNANIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIED
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOTION: (Brown) to approve the minutes of August 20, 1981 as corrected. Second: Glines Vote: UNANIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIE D
A motion was made for adjournment, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.

The Friendswood Planning & Zoning Commis·sion. met in a joint public hearing on Thursday Septeml3er 3, 1981 at 8:00 p.fu. in the City Hall with. the following members present:
R.Wetzel -ChairmanR.AtchesonL.BrownC.BeggsG.CressB.Glines
With a quorum present, the following request was heard:
REZONING REQUEST -Rezoning of 10 acres of land situated in lot 1, "Burgess Subdivision" in the B. S. & F. Survey, Section 6, abstract 645, Galveston from R-1 to C-1.
The Chairman read the request and asked Mr. E. Matt to present the proposal to the public.
Mr. Matt stated the property has 430 feet frontage on FM 528 and is ajacent to the Drainage District and Texas New Mexico Power offices. He discussed the tax structure from R-1 to C-1.
The Chairman asked the public for their comments in favor of the request.
John James -spoke in favor of the request stating it to be a good location for the type of operation.
Lynn Eignus (trustee of Pressure Control) stated they were a very responsible energy related company, which would blend with the other office structures in the area. He also felt the city to be in need of good commercial businesses that the taxes would be of great consequestial value to the city.
The Chairman asked for comments in opposition.
Charles Yotis -questioned the companys operation and the need for such a great depth of property. He felt the zoning classification sho uld be M-1.

Betty Bloodworth -agreed with the comments of Mr. Yot is. She did not want to see this type of business across from her home.
Jack Templeman -would not mind the rezoning if i t was limited to offices.
AfterAfter these comments, Mr. Matt stated the operation may go into Alv in area near the Friendswood city limits and the trucks would be drivi ng down FM 528 with Alv in gett ing the tax dollars.
The hearing closed at 8:30 p.m.
