MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
FRIENDSWOOD PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
February 19, 1981
The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission met in a regular meeting on Thursday February 19, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present:
R.Wicklander -ChairmanR.WetzelG.CressR.AtchesonL.BrownC.Beggs
With a quorum present, the following items of business were considered:
PUBLIC HEARINGS -Both requests were withdrawn.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
MOTION: (Wetzel) to approve the minutes of the Public Hearing of February 2, 1981 as read. Second: Cress Vote: UNANIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIED
MOTION: (Atcheson) to approve the minutes of Feburary 5, 1981 as read. Second: Wetzel Vote: UNA NIMOUS FOR MOTION CARRIED
DISCUSSION -REZONING REQUEST 206 SHADOWBEND
Mrs. Foss represented the Leahmans on the rezoning request of their property at 206 Shadowbend from R-2 to R-4.
MOTION: (Wetzel) to recommend to Council the rezoning of part of lot 12 block 2 Friendswood Subdivision from R-2 to R-4.Second: Atcheson Vote: FOR Wicklander, Wetael, Beggs, Atcheson AGAINST Cress* MOTION CARRIED
*The vote cast against suggested a possible change in thecurrent ordinance in order to allow a R-2 zone to be subdivided.
DISCUSSION -REZONING REQUEST FOR RETIREMENT HOME
As of this meeting Mrs. Whitmire has not given plans for development. The Chairman has conversed with Mrs. Whitmire February 13 concerning the plans. The subject was tabled until the next meeting.
DRAINAGE RESOLUTION -The subject was tabled until rece�v�ng of comments from the Drainage District.
RECOMMENDATION FO ORDINANCE REVISION
MOTION: (Wetzel) to recommend ordinance change in oraer to delete neighborhood convenience centers, grocery stores, and liquor stores from the C-2 zone classification. Second: Cress Vote: FOR Wicklander, Wetzel, Cress, Beggs and Brown AGAINST Atcheson* MOTION CARRIED
*The vote casted against was due to it being a hasty decisionwith inadequate reasoning.
CALLING OF HEARING
MOTION: (Brown) to hold a joint public hearing March 16, 1981 at 8:00 to rezone lots 29, 30 and 31 of block 1, Annalea Addition Section 1 from R-1 to C-2. Second: Wetzel Vote: FOR Brown, Wicklander, Cress, Wetzel, Beggs ABSTAINED Atcheson MOTION CARRIED
