1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6pm.
2. Communication from the public: James informed the committee that Kary Wilson with Ron Carter
can’t make it to the event to accept his award. Sam, meet with him next week and mention to him at
that time.
3. Minutes: Barbara made a motion to approve the minutes as presented, Chris second and the motion
was approved unanimously.
4. Discussion of the 2018 4th of July Celebration
A. Dignitary Breakfast: Barbara stated that we’re good, touch base with Brent with Brothers Produce,
and start decorating at 5pm on Tuesday. Open council chambers if needed. Parking, we are going to
park in the overflow parking lot so we can leave the other half of the overflow and the city hall parking
for dignitaries. Food needs to be into city hall by 7pm. We can use the warmers for senior center,
Darrell, will pick up food from Whataburger.
B. Parade: Stacy stated we have 92 entries, we’re going to station horses on Shadowbend and
Woodlawn. Marietta will confirm coggins for horses. Keep an eye on captains corners tell any horse
entries to move Shadowbend, Grand Marshals on Pecan. Stacy stated we will have the boat in the
parade. Coordinate with PD with entering vehicle. Stacy requested 10 rolls of masking tape. Put grand
marshal sign on chief’s car.
C. Day program: Michelle stated we have 51 booth entries, all amusement rides are in the shade. The
layout will be done by Friday afternoon. Utilize the parking lot of the old fire station, ems, atm, fashion
bus. Atm will be dropped off at 10am on Tuesday. Michael stated that were saving 6 spots in front of
city hall, car will be taken back on Thursday. Cars will drop off dignitaries at the chamber and drive back
to city hall. Staff and committee will be eating Chick fila for lunch. Ice is $10, Katy is making signs.
D. Evening: Get set list from band. Emergency announcement will be on the video wall. Barricades
delivered on Monday. Sound crew coming in at 2pm on Tuesday, video wall crew will set up. Pick up
Sonic for lunch. Chick fila will deliver our food. Flyer over is good, sky divers are good. Fireworks are
confirmed.
Katy informed the board that we’re having a mobile app it will provide schedule, parking maps, booths,
she will be adding the parade entries descriptions on the app as well. Free to download, notifications.
Post signage at the ticket both. We will have a photo contest, the best photo will win a 4th of July Yeti
cup.
