HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1997-10-20 SpecialI J Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission October 20, 1997 The Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission held a special meeting on Monday, October 20, 1997, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas. The following members were present: Finger -Chair Burke Hodge -City Engineer Brinkman -Secretary Measeles -Council Liaison Mickelson -City Attorney Grace Clark Eubanks Storey With a quorum present, McVeigh absent, Chair Finger called the meeting to order to consider the following: Docketed Joint Public Hearing: To receive public comment, either oral or written regarding the following: A. 8. A zone classification change request from Single Family Residential (SFR) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC), .0530 acre tract out of Lot 2, Block 2 of Friendswood Subdivision, Galveston, County Texas -111 East Edgewood. Al Lentz of Lentz Engineering represented David O'Farrell, who is owner and developer of the tract. Mr. O'Farrell explained that the site will be developed for medical offices and retail sales. Chair Finger explained the different uses that are permitted in an NC zone. Mr. Tom Maloney, owner of Bike Pro, said he would prefer the property be developed as a PUD. There was no other public comment and that portion of the public hearing was closed. A zone classification change request from Office Park District (OPD) to Planned Unit Development (PUD), .2893 acre tract out of Lot 4, Block 9 of Friendswood Subdivision, Galveston County, Texas -200 block of East Edgewood. Mr. Lentz explained this property will be developed as Melody Plaza, Section II. Chair Finger explained the purpose of a PUD classification. Ms. Franklin complimented P&Z and City Council for the controlled development of FM 2351. There were no other comments and the public hearing was closed.
