HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 1998-05-18 RegularMinutes of a Special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning commission May 18, 1998 A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was held Monday, May 18, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. In the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas. The following members were present: Finger Mcveigh Burke Bertrand Grace Clark Benthul Lamb -Secretary Hodge -City Engineer Cox -City Manager Measeles -Council Liaison Mickelson -City Attorney With a quorum present, none absent, Finger opened the Docketed joint public hearing to receive public input, either oral or written, regarding the following: A A request for an Amendment to the Specific Use Permit -School for property located at 702 Greenbriar (Friendswood High School). Sam Swart of Bay Architects presented the proposed amendment. No one spoke in favor of the request, nor was there any opposition. B.A zone classification change request from Community Shopping Center (CSC) to Office Park District (OPD) for 1.4717 acres of land being Wofford Addition No. 1. Property located at 1100 S. Friendswood Drive and Shadwell Lane. Larry Taylor spoke on behalf of the developer of the proposed Office Park. Office Park district is more restrictive than an NC district but caretaker's quarters are permitted in an OP district. No one spoke in favor of the request, nor was there any opposition. C.A zone classification change request from Community Shopping Center (CSC) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC) for 0.8181 acres of land out of a 5.069 acre tract situated in the Mary Sloan Survey, Abstract 184, Galveston County Texas and the G.W. Patterson Survey, Abstract 645, Galveston County, Texas. Property located on FM 528 by Boca Raton Subdivision. Maurice Estlinbaum presented the proposed request. There were citizen concerns expressed regarding the spectrum of activities allowed in NC, drainage, water pressure, effect on property values, lighting and fencing.
