Minutes of a Special Meeting
of the
Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission
January 19, 1998
A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was held Monday, January
19, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive,
Friendswood, Texas. The following members were present:
Finger
McVeigh
Burke
Clark
Henry -Development Coordinator
Hodge -City Engineer
Mickelson -City Attorney
Measeles -Council Liaison
With a quorum present, 1 resignation and Grace and Storey absent, the meeting was opened to consider
the following:

To receive public comment, either oral or written, regarding the following:

A request for a Specific Use Permit for a Print Shop in a Planned Unit
District (PUD) -.2893 acres in the 200 block of East Edgewood, Lot 2,
Block 1 (Southeast portion of Melody Plaza Subdivision, Section Two).
Al Lentz of Lentz Engineering addressed the commission regarding the
print shop. There was no public comment, either for or against the
proposed; however, Chair Finger requested a description of use and
building elevations.
A request for a Specific Use Permit for a School in a Single Family
Residential Dwelling District (SFR) -16.9255 acres out of Lots 12 and 15,
Section 6B, S & F Survey, Burgess Addition (Adjacent to Windsong
Subdivision).
Calvin Powitsky of Bay Architects addressed the commission on behalf of
the school district. The school will be very similar to Bales elementary
with green space in front of the building and drainage through an
underground pipe. There were concerns regarding traffic on FM 528 and
the possible need for a signal light at that location. David Dickens, who
lives adjacent to the proposed school, asked the commission to require a
fence between his home and school. He also expressed concerns
about a ditch that encroaches his property.
With no further comment,Jbe public hearing was closed and the meeting was adjourned.
