Minutes of a Special Meeting
of the
Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission
May 15, 2000A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was held Monday
May 15, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S. Friendswood
Drive, Friendswood, Texas. The following members were present:
Finger -Chair
McVeigh
Bertrand
Benthul (6:30 P.M.)
Hodge -City Engineer
Steelquist -Development Coordinator
Dominguez -City Planner
Mickelson -City Attorney
A special work session with the city council was called to review and discuss the proposed
revisions to the Glare Ordinance, and the Nonpermanent Buildings For Temporary Commercial
Activities Ordinance.
Several topics regarding the Glare Ordinance revisions were discussed including:
l.How light is measured and whether the City has a device to take these2. 3. 4.
measurements,
The 24 month compliance period,
Exemptions to the ordinance for public uses such as football fields, tennis courts,
post offices, and schools,
How the ordinance would be enforced -survey or complaint generated.
Discussion regarding the Nonpermanent Buildings For Temporaty Commercial Activities
Ordinance centered around the following:
1.Insurance requirements,
2.Restroom facility requirements,3.Definition of 'temporary business',
4.Outdoor displays vs. outdoor sales,5.Adequate lighting after dark.
Both topics will be discussed at the next regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning
Commission.
With no further comment, the meeting was adjourned.

A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was scheduled for
Monday May 15, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S.
Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas.
The Docketed Joint Public Hearing to consider a request for a Specific Use Permit for a Real
Estate Office for property located at 307 E. Friendswood, a 0.482 acre tract ofland being a part
of lot 4, block 9, Friendswood Subdivision, Galveston County, Texas was canceled at the
request of the applicant.
