Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas. The following members were present: Burke -Vice Chair McVeigh Bertrand Grace Clark Lamb -Secretary Cox -City Manager Mickelson -City Attorney Measeles -Council Liaison With a quorum present, Finger and Benthul absent, Vice Chair Burke called the meeting to order. Burke opened the Docketed Joint Public Hearing to receive public input, either oral or written, regarding a request for a modification to the Specific Use Permit Ordinance #293 to include a New Maintenance and Transportation Facility. Property located at 400 Woodlawn - Friendswood ISD. Sam Swart of Bay Architects represented the Friendswood Independent School District. Swart explained that FISD was expanding their existing transportation Facility. The building will be 14,000 square feet; 1/3 of which will be office space and 2/3 will be a storage area for the maintenance department. The building will be surrounded by an opaque wood fence adjacent to residential areas and landscaping in areas that do not abut a residential property. There were seven people who spoke and one letter read in opposition to the specific use modification. General concerns were: the inadequacy of the 8 foot height of the fence, future expansion of the existing metal buildings and/or uses of property, increase in bus fuel storage on site, environmental impact of such storage, increase in traffic, the need for a detention pond and its location, and the zoning (industrial use in a residential area). The presence of a construction trailer on the site raised concerns if construction was already underway. Vice Chair Burke informed the audience that any changes to the specific use permit would require another public hearing. Burke said the item would be on the August 6, 1998 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission for consideration and possible recommendation to City Council. He further iterated that the item would be either recommended for approval, for denial or would be tabled for later consideration. With no further comment, the meeting was adjourned. :£ Claudia L.
