Minutes of a Special Meeting
of the
Friendswood Planning ancl Zoning Commission
July 13, 2005
A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission and the Main Street
Committee was held on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 6:00 pm at the Friendswood City Hall
second floor conference room, located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas. The
following members were present:
Planning & Zoning:
Kevin Holland
Mark Van Riper 6:08 p.m.
Sherry Weesner
Roy Klusendorf
Jim Gibson
Main Street Committee:
Bill Finger
Tony Banfield
Staff:
Ron Cox-City Manager
Diana Steelquist-Planner
Karen Capps -Economic Development Coordinator
Without a quorum present for the Main Street Committee, Chairman Holland called the special
meeting to order for the Planning & Zoning Commission only at 6:15 p.m. David Brakebill and
Bob Bertrand were absent.
1.Call to order.
Joint Work session between P&Z ancl Main Street Committee
2.Discussion regarding Zoning Measures for the Main Street Area.
(1 hour and 30 minutes)
No discussion was held on this issue due to a lack of quorum for the Main Street
Committee.
P&Z special session
3.Discussion regarding Comprehensive Plan (30 minutes)
Commissioner Wessner presented copies of her comments on the Friendswood Today
section. The section on school enrollment was reviewed and it was suggested that if no
number could be obtained which indicated how many students in the Clear Creek ISD
lived in Friendswood, the total number of students attending the schools serving
Friendswood should be added to the total number of students attending Friendswood ISD.
Information regarding the sewer treatment facilities was also revised.
The introduction, Friendswood Today and Friendswood 2005 fact sheet will be placed on

the next regular meeting agenda for approval. These sections along with an outline of
the Vision of Friendswood will be forwarded to the various Boards and Commissions in
the City for comment.
4.Adjourn.
Prior to adjounm1ent, the Chairman asked staff to investigate a means to host public
meetings with various Boards and Commissions to discuss the Comprehensive Plan.
Quorum issues were of especial concern. With no further comment the meeting was
adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
