Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission
May 8, 2001
A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was held
Monday May 8, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S.
Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas.

With a quorum present, Aalund and Frankovich absent, the meeting was called to order
by Vice-Chairman Clark to consider the following:

Docketed joint public heai-ing:
1.To receive public input, either oral or written, regarding the following:
A.Requesting zone classification change for a total of 1.0356 acre tract out
of an 11.62 acre tract, in the Mary Sloan Survey, .Abstract 184, Chevron
Handi-plus (comer" of FM 528 · and Country Club Drive) Galveston
County, Texas, from: Multi-family Residential Dwel ling District -
Medium (MFR-M), to: Neighborhood Commercial (NC).
Ms. Melanie Grant, #7 Dorado Drive, spoke against the zone change. She stated
that she purchased her home 30 years ago because the surrounding area was not
zoned for commercial use.
No further comments either for or against were received.
B.Requesting zone classification change for 1211 Crawford, 3 acre tract of
land out of Lot 46, Hoidale and Coffman Subdivision, Friendswood,
Galveston County, Texas, from: Single Family Residential (SFR) to:
Planned Unit Development (PUD).
Mr. Danny Wright, 1211 Crawford, addressed the Commission and Council
regarding the application. Mr. Wright stated that the purpose of the zone change
request is to subdivide the parcel of land and build a second home. According to
Mr. Wright the applicants have already come before Planning & Zoning and the

ZBOA. Mayor Whitaker questioned the applicant regarding lot sizes for adjacent
properties. Mr. W1ight stated that most lots on Crawford were 3 acres with some
90 x 120 ft. lots in the area. Commissioner Mc Veigh wanted to know if the
common driveway would be a dedicated ingress/egress. The applicant responded
yes.
Mr. Ed Wright, applicant, spoke in favor of the request. He just wants to build his
home. They have complied with all the requests from the City staff in order to
submit this application.
There were no further comments either for or against.
C.Requesting a Specific Use Permit -Residential for 1211 Crawford, 3
acre tract of land out of Lot 46, Hoidale and Coffinan Subdivision,
Friendswood, Galveston County, Texas.
Ed Wright responded to Commissioner Mc Veigh's questions regarding the tract of
land. He stated it would be subdivided into two separate lots, one of which would
be flagpole shaped. He added that his neighbor to the east side of 1211 Crawford
has an identical shaped lot which has less frontage than what he is proposing.
There were no further comments either for or against.
With no fiuther comments the joint docketed public hearing was adjourned at 6:50
p.m.
