HomeMy WebLinkAboutP&Z Minutes 2001-03-05 Special! l I : \ Minutes of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission March 5, 2001 A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning and Zoning Commission was held Monday March 5, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas. Niel Aalund Bob Bertrand Tom Burke Mark Clark Frank Frankovich Zekie McVeigh Tom Samson Mike Dominguez -City Planner Diana Steelquist -Development Coordinator With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chai rman Burke who then opened the portion of the docketed joint public heming to consider the following: To receive comments from the public both oral and written, regarding the following: 1.A zone classification change for an 11.16 Acre tract out of George W. Patterson Survey, Abstract 645, property located in front of the proposed Friendswood Lakes Subdivision (FM 528-W. Parkwood), Galveston County, Texas from: Single Family Residential (SFR) to: Multifamily Residential -Garden Home District (MFR-GHD) . The developer, Mr. Mitch Mitchell, president of Altair Development and Friendswood Lakes Developments, Inc. presented a map of the overall development for Friendswood Lakes. He then overlaid a section to indicate the proposed Multi-family Residential -Garden Home District. The area to be rezoned will be developed into a 40 lot Garden Home subdivision with private streets and gated access. Areas around the garden homes will be developed as commercial tracts except along those lots with lake frontage. The commercial tracts will be rezoned at a later date. Councilman Measeles requested clarification on the proposed plat exhibit which indicated recreation/detention easements. Mr. Mitchell stated that the entire F1iendswood_ Lakes development had many such easements which will be landscaped into park-like pedestiian environments. The Garden Homes will have gated access onto the recreation/ detention easement surrounding the lake. - 1 - 03/05/01 P &Z With no further comment either for or against, the joint docketed public hearing portion of the meeting was closed.
