NOISIAIGOnS 03H033b d NI AA3d0bd SI TT JJ r I _ ( a NOIldId0S30 IV931 s A1b3d0bd i33cons JO SS3d00d J 5� , SS3d00d 73NOHd S 3WdN Q L r-- ON17V3H b03 1S3A 3d 1N3NiSACOV 30 Obb08 ONINOZ OOOMSON3Id3 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT July 31, 1984 A special meeting of the Friendswood Board of Adjustment was held in the Council Chamber at City Hall on Tuesday, July 31, 1984, at 7 : 00 p.m. with the following members present : Chairman Ed Dykes Nick Capuano , Building Inspector Hal Taylor Pamela Henry, Secretary Tom Sullivan Grace Baker (Alternate Serving) Maurice Estlinbaum (Alternate Serving) With a quorum present , the following business was transacted: W. J . SARGENT Mr. W. J . Sargent was reqresented by his wife requesting a variance to change the building line from 25 feet to 20 feet to save several trees , particularly two 25 year old cedar trees . Mr. and Mrs . Sargent also requested a 5 foot building line on the side easement so a driveway will fit on the lot . Mrs . Sargent showed the board members pictures of the lot and explained that they would like to build a house there but because of the 15 foot easement plus the 25 foot building line they would have to cut done several trees and fill in a drop-off in the back- yard with dirt to make it level to build on. With the variance for a 20 foot building line the trees would be saved and instead of filling in the drop-off with dirt they would build a deck in it with steps down to the deck . Mr. and Mrs . Sargent bought the lot three months ago . The lot is located at 5478 Appleblossom in the Wedgewood Subdivision. Many of the houses in the subdivision have a building line of 20 feet or less . Mr. and Mrs . Sargent have the approval of the Wedgewood Civic Association to build with a 20 foot building line . MOTION: (Taylor) To grant the variance for a 20 foot building ii ne with the conditions that the Civic Association approves in a letter and that none of the neighbors on their street object . Second: (Sullivan) With the addendum that Nick Capuano check the other houses on the street and that there are other houses with a building line of 20 feet or less . Vote: 4 FOR 1 AGAINST (Estlinbaum) MOTION CARRIED If the house is in compliance the variance will not be granted. After discussion, the five foot building line on the side easement was not needed as request . ADJOURNMENT Motion was made and seconded that the meeting adjourn. The meeting was adjourned.
