George Rummel called meeting to order to hear a request by
the Friendswood Bank for a sideyard setback variance of four feet.
Paul Maaz, Charles McKim, and Joe Crutcher represented the bank.
The request is to build on to the bank within four (4) feet
of the side property line , twenty (20) feet from the city street
curb. There is a sixteen (16) feet easement along the street.
No traffic would be allowed to leave the bank parking or
shopping center area through the te1ler1-d-,',vein windows. The bank
is upgrading the exterior of the building, and needs more office
and vault space . adding on to the east side of the building is
the only economical and practical way to enlarge the vault.
Law controls the construction of the vault and amount of money
spent of improvements of the bank. Traffic will not be in dangered
oP obstructed by this addition. There will be landscaping around
the bank and parking area, but it will be kept low. They are working
with a building not of their original design.
No one was in the audience to speak for or against this variance
being grunted.
George Rummel made a motion to grant the request for the
variance of twentysix (26 ) feet or four (4) feet from property
line , of twenty (20) feet from the city street curbing. On the
explanation given by Charles McKim and Joe Crutcher , that the
bank needs more office space , a larger vault area , and will not
hamper traffic. Also because of the economics involved.
This is based on regulation Cl ,page 37 , para. 1 , note B.
Hal Taylor seconded the motion. More discussion.
A-vote was called , and carried unanimously to grant the variance.
Mail one copy to the bank.
Disscussion was opened about our need for more members.

This letter is to 'confirm that the Friendswood Board of adjustment
granted the Friendswood Bank a variance of tientysix (26) f•2et on
your East sideyard property line. You can build four (4) feet ,
from your property line or sixteen ( 16 ) feet 1'rom the city street
curbing. This was granted -on Sept. 7 , 11,76.
A copy is on file at the building inspectors office and in the
Board of Adjusment' s minute book at the City I:all.

Dear Board Members,
This letter is to request a variance on the
property located at #1 Earlham, Quakers Landings
Friendswood, The reason for request being to pre-
serve several large old oak and pine trees. The
_ original plot plan would have necessitated the re-
moval of these, so consequently the building has
been slightly s:;ifted, resulting in 2.4 feet en-
croachment on the building line. See enclosed sur-
vey dated 9-20-76,
We appreciate your review of this matter, and
are hopeful that it can be resolved with a minimum
