September 30, 1971
Meeting was held at the City Hall on Thursday, September 30, 1971 .
Members present:
Mrs. Ivy Fossler, Chairman
Richard Haken
Truman Taylor
Wm. E. Dykes
George Rummel
First order of business was to elect Richard Haken as Acting Chairman.
George Rummel was elected secretary.
Chairman Fossler suggested that we read over Zoning Ordinance No. 132
and the proposed amendments to same. Considerable time was spent on
Sections 10, 11 and 12, which deal with the powers, duties, etc. of the
Board of Adjustment.
The following points were agreed upon by the group:
1 ) Section 11 , paragraph 2, subsection b, says that when "Special
Exceptions" are to be heard a notice of such hearing "shall be
posted on the property for which special exception is sought, at
the City Hall , and in one other public place." The Board agreed
that the other public place shall be the Friendswood Post Office.
2) Our powers as a Board are not clearly spelled out in the Ordinance.
3) All Board Members should read over the Ordinance and the proposed
amendments and prepare questions on things that need clarification.
We would meet again on Thursday, October 14, and ask one or more
people on the Planning and Zoning Commission to attend our meeting.
The Planning Commission wrote all the proposed amendments and we
felt their interpretations would be helpful .
Meeting adjourned about 9:30 p.m.
