MARCH 511 ..1987 , •��_•. _ .:._ _ MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD WHICH WAS HELD AT CITY HALL ON MARCH 31 , 1987 .WITH- THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS CONSTITUTING A -QUORUM: CHAIRMAN - . _ ED DYKES - REGULAR MEMBER MAURICE" ESTL•INBAUM - REGULAR MEMBER DR . TOM SULLIVAN ALTERNATE MEMBER STEVE JOHNSON ALTERNATE MEMBER ._ MARY ELLEN BELLARD ALTERNATE MEMBER KENNY KONCABA BUILDING INSPECTOR NICK CAPUANO SECRETARY ~_7- ~------ JANE TOLLETT. • CHAIRMAN DYKES CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER . STEVE JOHNSON, MARY ELLEN BELLARD AND KENNY KONCABA WERE APPOINTED REGULAR MEMBERS FOR -THIS .MEETING.. = CHAIRMAN DYKES CALLED FOR PUBLIC INPUT REGARDING REQUEST FROM - CARROLL CHESTNUT OF RENOVATIONS PLUS , REPRESENTING CHUCK MILLER , 902. WEST VIEJO , RANCHO VIEJO SUBDIVISION, REQUESTING A 10 FOOT. • VARIANCE FROM THE REQUIRED SIDE BUILDING LINE TO 5 FOOT SIDE BUILDING LINE TO BUILD A GARAGE AND ADD ON. - CARROLL CHESTNUT , OF RENOVATIONS PLUS , -EXPRESSED TO THE BOARD THAT THE GARAGE ADD ON WAS FOR MR . MILLER 'S MOTORHOME AND BECAUSE OF THE SEWER AND UTILITY LINES IN THE BACK IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE BUILDING BACK FURTHER . HE STATED THAT THE THE LOT IS VACANT NEXT DOOR AND IS ON A DEAD END STREET WITH MR. MILLER 'S • LOT BEING A TOTAL OF THREE ACRES . THE FORMS ARE SET, CONCRETE HAS' BEEN BROKEN AND PART OF A FENCE TORN DOWN. MR . CHESTNUT REALIZED THAT HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIS PERMIT BEFORE STARTING THIS JOB BUT DIDN'T THINK HE WOULD ANY PROBLEM.. DISCUSSION FOLLOWED AT LENGTH WITH EVERYONE INVOLVED . CHAIRMAN . DYKES CALLED FOR CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION , REGARDING REQUEST FROM CARROLL CHESTNUT OF RENOVATIONS PLUS , REPRESENTING CHUCK MILLER, 902 WEST VIEJO , RANCHO VIEJO SUBDIVISION , REQUESTING A 10 FOOT VARIANCE FROM THE REQUIRED SIDE BUILDING LINE TO 5 FOOT BUILDING LINE TO BUILD A GARAGE AND ADD ON . CARROLL CHESTNUT AGAIN STATED HIS REASONS FOR REQUESTING THE VARIANCE. THE MEMBERS QUESTIONED HIM. AND MR. CHUCK MILLER AT LENGTH AND DISCUSSED SEVERAL OPTIONS OF MOVING THE BUILDING ' SEVERAL FEET OR POSSIBLY TAKING OFF A ROOM. CHUCK MILLER STATED THAT HE HAD A HEART ATTACK LAST YEAR AND HIS DOCTORS ADVISED HIM TO BEGIN AN EXERCISE ROUTINE . AT THIS TIME , HIS GARAGE HAS BEEN . CONVERTED INTO AN EXERCISE ROOM WITH AIR CONDITIONING AND THE ADD • ON WILL .BE THE N.EW.:FXERCISE . ROOM, WITH A ROOM FOR STORAGE AND THE ,.GA.R7iGE- BEING A DELUXE- CARPORT FOR HIS MOTORHOME . HE STATED THAT "HE HAS LIVED IN THE CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD FOR SEVEN YEARS 'AND • • . REALLY LIKES LIVING ( HERE BUT IF THE 'BOARD DOES NOT GRANT . .-THE • ' VARIANCE , HE SEES NO OPTION BUT TO SELL AND MOVE TO ANOTHER CITY. . . . . **MAURICE - ESTLINBAUM MADE THE MOTION TO GRANT THE VARIANCE AS STATED . . . : . - STEVE JOHNSON SECONDED . CHAIRMAN ED DYKES OPPOSED . ' : - :MOTION MOTION CARRIED . . • THE MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 27 , 1987 WERE APPROVED AS PRESENTED .. . CHAIRMAN DYKES EXPRESSED TO THE BOARD THAT HE WILL BE TENDING HIS RESIGNATION FROM THE BOARD OF - ADJUSTMENT BECAUSE OF THE . IMPLEMENTATION OF THE "NO SMOKING" ORDINANCE.
