HomeMy WebLinkAboutSCAC Minutes 2003-10-27 Regular Regular Meeting Zoning Board of Adjustment October 27,2003 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City of Friendswood that was held at City Hall on October 27, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present constituting a quorum: Chairman David O'Brien Vice Chairman Ron Decker Regular Member Greg Hughes Regular Member Ken Boggs Regular Member Wayne Ford Alternate Member Tom Samson Alternate Member Elisabeth Wagner Alternate Member Melissa Pride Building Official Randy Mason Z.B.O.A. Secretary Linda Thornton Chairman O'Brien called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Attending meeting: City Attorney Loren Smith C.S.O.Administrative Assistant Karla Foster Absent from this meeting: David Dannemiller Oath of Office: Administered by Staff Liaison Linda Thornton to newly appointed Alternate member Elisabeth Wagner. Chairman O'Brien, called the hearing to order to receive public input regarding a variance for property located at 103 Royal Court,Lot 107, Section 2,Imperial Estates Subdivision, Galveston County, Texas,for a variance encroaching 20' into the side yard setback for accessory building (garage) under construction, required 25'.. City of Friendswood Code,Regulation Matrix-Residential District, Section 7.Q.3. Lillie and Adrian Almaguer,property owners explained their request for a variance. Hardship: Handicapped Child with June Syndrome that is ventilator dependent. Ambulance personnel's safety when picking up the child for emergency treatment. Storing large shipments of medical equipment and supplies and more will be needed as the child gets older. Safely and easily accessible to FM 2351 for 18 wheel tractor deliveries of medical equipment and supplies. Protect medical equipment and supplies from getting wet from high water. In order to save trees. Adrian Almaguer submitted a letter dated October 22,2003 from Coastal Bend Property Development, LLC, stating they had no objection to the variance request. Veronica Verdell, 101 Royal Court,spoke for the request. Richard Paul of Alliance Ambulance Service,spoke for the request. Carlton Allen, 107 Royal Court,spoke for the request. Regular member Ken Boggs was called out of the meeting due to a family emergency. David Rhoades, 108 Royal Court, spoke for the request. Dorothy Pendley, 805 W.Edgewood,spoke for the request. JoEllen Sewell, 10134 Sagemark, spoke for the request. Adrian Almaguer,stated that he would like to pay for all permits. Hearing no further input the Public Hearing was closed at 7:29pm. City Building Official Randy Mason explained his interpretation of the request. *Wayne Ford made a motion to grant the variance at 103 Royal Court,Imperial Estates Subdivision. Seconded by:Ron Decker Motion approved 4-1 (Greg Hughes opposed) *Ron Decker made a motion to approve the minutes as written from the July 29,2003 meeting.
