HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBOA Minutes 1999-10-26 Regular ex cc: NH LAT Applicant p Regular Meeting Zoning Board of Adjustment October 26, 1999 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City of Friendswood which was held at City Hall on October 26, 1999 at 7:00 PM with the following members present constituting a quorum: Chairman William Hal Taylor Regular Member Ron Decker Regular Member David O'-Brien Alternate Member Thomas Rives Alternate Member Marsha Standridge _Building Official Linda Taylor Z.B.O.A. Secretary Linda Thornton Chairman Hal Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. . Regular member Ron Decker obstained from the agenda item for 2301 N. Mission Circle. V Chairman Hal Taylor appointed Alternate members Thomas Rives and Marsha Standridge as regular voting members for this meeting. Oath of Office: Gary Harris was not reappointed due to his letter of resignation. Chairman Taylor, called the hearing to order to receive public input regarding Henry D. Valdez's request for a variance for property located at 2103 N. Mission Circle, Lot 14, Block 5, Mission Estates Subdivision, Section 2, Galveston County, Texas, for building a second-story on a one- story unattached accessory structure (detached garage) with allowed setbacks of 10 ' rear and 5' side. City of Friendswood Code, Appendix C-Zoning, Section 7.Q.3. • • Discussion followed with Henry D. Valdez explaining his request. Hardship: Substandard lot size. Hearing no further input the Public Hearing was closed. * Thomas Rives made a motion to approve the variance at 2103 N. Mission Circle, based on a substandard lot size. Seconded by David O'Brien Motion Failed 3-1 Marsha Standridge opposed .** Marsha Standridge made a motion to recind her vote. Seconded by Thomas Rives Motion approved unanimously BOA.MIN/LSTO3 • ***. Thomas Rives made a motion to grant the variance at 2103 N. Mission Circle, based on a sub-standard lot size. • Seconded by David O'Brien Motion ,approved unanimously Chairman Taylor, called the hearing to order to receive public input regarding Clara Sandel and Jean M. Gill, 401 Linda Lane, Lot 36, Block 3, Section 1, Annalea Subdivision, Galveston County, Texas, to construct a one- story unattached accessory building 10'-- from exterior side. property line and 6' from rear property line instead of the required 20' from exterior side property line•-and 10' from the rear property line. Friendswood City Code, Appendix C-Zoning, Section 7.Q.3 . Discussion followed with Clara Sandel explaining her request. Hardship: Small lot size. Jeff Moore, 403 Linda Lane spoke for the request. Hearing no further input the Public Hearing was closed. * Ron Decker made a motion to approve the variance at 401 Linda Lane, based on a substandard lot size. Seconded by Thomas Rives. Motion approved unanimously. * Marsha Standridge made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 28, 1999 meeting. Seconded by Ron Decker. Motion approved unanimously.
