HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBOA Minutes 1984-01-24 Regular MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT January 24 , 1984 A meeting of the Friendswood Board of Adjustment was held at the City Hall on Tuesday, January 24 , 1984 , at 7 : 00 p.m. with the following members present : Chairman Ed Dykes Hal Taylor Elvia Salyer. Dr. Tom Sullivan (Alternate serving) Secretary Bobbie Henry With a quorum present, the one request before the Board was pre- sented: Blaine Ballard, Great American Homes , asked for a variance on side yard set-backs for Lots 11 through 18 in Block 1, Section II of Regency Estates . He explained that from the first building in Regency the set-backs quoted in the deed restrictions have been used. This is less than the City' s set-backs . Recently this error was discovered by the Building Inspector and they have been ordered to honor the greater set-back. Ballard said they now have contracts on the above lots and the plans will not. allow for the new set-backs . Mayor Lowe , who was present , explained that the City is now negotiat- ing with Great American Homes for property off the back of several of their lots along F.M. 528 which is necessary for straightening the dangerous curve along the highway. He said there is also ,a _ proposal to exchange some land with Great American Homes to build a swimming pool to be dedicated to the Homeowners Association. Mayor Lowe asked _tha.t the Board take into consideration these negotiations and the advantages to the City in making their decision. MOTION: (Taylor) To grant a variance as requested on Lots 11 through 18 , Block 1, Section II , Regency Estates , subject to Council ' s consummating the land transactions and commitments as recommended by the City Council and responding commitments by Great American Homes .
