HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBOA Minutes 1983-07-26 Regular • MINUTES IF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE FRIENDSWOOD ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT The Board of Adjustment met in a regular meeting, 7 :00P.M. , on Tuesday, July 26 , 1983 , in the Council Room at City Hall with the following members present: Ed Dykes, Chairman Nick Capuano, Bldg. Inspector Hal Taylor Terry Maeker, Acting Secretary Elvia Salyer Grace Baker, Alternate With a quorum present and with Harold Whitaker and Ray Nelson absent, the following business was conducted: Approval of the minutes as corrected of the May 24 , 1983 meeting. Ed Dykes recapped the points of discussion by the Revision Committee which met on Tuesday, July 5, 1983, for the purpose of discussing possible changes to the present Sign and Zoning Ordinances. ADDITIONAL. FEES FOR SUBSEQUENT HEARINGS BY THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: The members of the Board are in agreement that a subsequent fee should be imposed on applicants who wish to come before the board for a second hearing. The figure of $25 . 00 was discussed and agreed upon by the board. 25 FOOT REAR SETBACK REQUIREMENT: The members of the Board of Adjustment are in agreement that the present 25 foot rear setback requirement is preferable to the discussed 10 foot setback. Elvia Salyer wasn't in agreement. MISSED MEETINGS : • Ed Dykes would like to see a stipulation incorporated into the Rules of the Board of Adjustment regarding missed meetings. He would like to ask Council to require any member who missed three consecutive meetings be dismissed. He would also like to see Mandatory attendance of all- alternate members at all meetings. The members of the Board are agreement on all other points discussed. Elvia Salyer suggested that the Mayor be asked to send a letter of appreciation for service to the community to former chairman and board member, Bruce Foster and also to Bernice Box for her service to the community.
