MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION, JULY 11, 1966
A regular meeting of the Friendswood Planning Com mission was held July 11; 1966.
Present were Chairman J. Anthony Banfield; W. L. Boyle, Tom Grace, Dean Saurenman; City Secretary Artha Wright.
w.L. Boyle reports from the Beautification Committee that in responseto City Council's request for a sign at the intersection of Willowickand Friendswood Drive designating location of City Hall, CorporationCourt, P. D., F. D., Library, etc., the following desings wereconsidered:

After discussion Dean Saurerunan made a motion of recommendation that the City Council pass an ordinance, similar to that of Big Spring, Texas, controlling billboards/signs; that this include the following:
10 sq. feet or less -no fee,
larger than 10 sq. feet -require a permit by Council or such bodies, or persons as Council may designate,
that the permit be renewed annually,
that the Fee be $.50 per square foot.
Saurenman•s motion tabled for further study by this Commission.
A letter was received from Irving Peabody, Engineer, for Quaker's Landing, requesting a six months extension,as per our code, before bringing in the final linen. Commission requested a letter stating the reason for needing this extension (Ordinance #23A).
Since A. J. Block, Jr. was not present, discussion of electrical and plumbing codes was tabled.
Further plats of Sunmeadow S/D were studied. However, no action was taken, as Mr. Atkinson has not formally applied for Preliminary Plat approval.
It was agreed that the $2.00/acre filing fee wo uld not apply to the area designated for the golf course, but only to the areas which may be reserved for com mercial or apartment use.
This commission agreed that their regular meetings for the remainder of July and the month of August would be suspended; that meetings would only be called for special needs during this time period due to vacation schedules of the members.
