A regular meeting of the Friendswood Planning Commission was held June 14, 1965; 7:30 P.M. at the City Hall. Present were Tony Banfield, A.J. EJ.ock, Gert.·.d Hollis, and Dean Saurenman. Also present were Harry .. Wagner, Artha Wright, Jay Dasch, and Betty Merchant. Tony Banfield said that our chief concern , at present, is the revision of the Subdivision Code. The first main revision should be lot size requirements. Some hold to large lot size minimum, some to small lot size minimum. In previous discussion with other members of this Commission, it was felt that a minimum lot size of uO' with an average lot size per subdivision of 70' would be acceptable. He recommended enter­tainment of a motion to this affect which would be drawn up by the City Attorney to insure that the intent of this would be carried out. Dean Saurenman made the following motiof\; .,1,te, the Planning Commission, recommend to the City Council that the'.:"ollowing provisions be incorp­orated into the Subdivision Ordinance to provide that the width of the lots in a given Subdivision must average 70� that the minimum width of each lot be not less than 60 1 ; that the minimu m area will be 7000 square feet per lot and that the width of any lot may not vary more than 10' from any contiguous lot. Gerald Hollis seconded this motion and the motion carried unanimously. Dean Saurenman made a motion that since sidewalks and parks have been discussed by this commission; they would appreciate the City Council's thoughts and recomme ndations on these subjects. Motion secoroded by Gerald Hollis and carried unanimously. A.J. Block made the motion that: Planning Commission recommends th9t City Council retain Bernard Johnso� & Associates for a Master Plan �or the City of Friendswood; and it is further noted that all Planning. Commission members except Gerald Hollis ( he has read their literature) were present when several firms were previously interviewed, and were all very favorably impressed with this firm. Motion seconded by Dean Saurenman and passed unanimously. The Planning Commission recommends that City Council keep informed of subjects that they feel are important to this commiss:r: •. We feel that our job is to make discisions of recommendati on to Gouncil; that Council's awareness of such subjects can best be accomplished by their attendence at Planning Commission meetings. Next meeting will deal with rules and regulations for governing this commission. *�ting adjourned.
