MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION, FEBRUARY �2,1965
A regular meeting of the Friendswood Planning Commission was held February 22, 1965; 7:30 p.m. at the City Hall.
Present were Tony Banfield, Gerald Ho llis , Dean Saurenman.
Also present were Harry Wagner, Curtis Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Ahrhart. and Robert Townsend.
Harry Wagner stated that he had spoken to the Director of the Texas Municipal League concerning a reported statement that TML was opposed to zoning in a small community of less than 10,000 population. The Director, Mr.Stephen J. Matthews, stated that they were for zoning, that all communities need some planning for land use, that for a small community such as ours, the plans should be simple, uncomplicated. Harry Wagner also stated that the reported statement at the public hearing of February 15, 1965 that mortaging companies did not favor zoning was in evror, that a representative of the Fannin State Bank was there,and had said later, that they approve zoning and regardless of the existence of a zoning ordinanc� land use controls and sets a pattern that affects the willingness to issue mortage loans.
There was discussion of easements of utilities and�gas lines, and street right-of-ways in the Friendswood Forrest-L£<.tsure Lane area.
It was decided to invite the Webster planning commission and the Mayor of League City to the next meeting, March 8, 1965.
