A special meeting of the Friendswood Planning Commission was held at the City Hall August 31, 1964, 7:30 P.M.

Also present were Mayor Wagner, Curtis Morris.
Suggestions for the Planning Commission from Mayor Wagner: 1-A study for curb and drainage of FM 518 downtown district.2-A traffic flow map for FM 518 city limits to city limit.(Police Chief to help)3-Suggest City adopt Houston Building Code.4-Zoning for City.
It was decided to put a copy of the Houston Subdivision Code on file.
Curtis Morris suggested that Major Highway Southeast of Allen Field rental project be 100 1 instead of 60 1 , and that Melody Lane be made 80 1 instead of 60 1 •
The following recommendations are to the City Council: 1-Major arterial highways be changed as follows:80 1 to 100 1 ; 60 1 to 80 1 ; 50 1 to 60 1 • 2-Paving standard of Houston street paving; curbs and guttersbe accepted; (as-in file of City Engineer)3-That the City of Friendswood adopt Houston Building Code insteadof the Southern Building Code.A motion to give these recommendations to the City Council was made by A.J. Block, seconded by Dean Saurenman and carried unanimous-ly.
City Council is asked to express opinions on zoning ordinances before the Planning Commission starts developing a map of proposed zoning. This project is scheduled for the next Planning Commission meeting, September 14, 1964.
