PL ANNING COMMISSION MEETING, JUL� 13,1964
A meeting of the Friendswood Planning Commission was held
at the City Hall at 7:30 P.M.
Present were Commission members Tony Banfield, Dean Saurenman, ans A.J. Block Jr.
Also present were Harry D. Wagner and Leo Havard.
In the ajrense of Wilbett Boyle, acting Chairman, Tony Banfield presided. Member L.D. 1,Jlfferty has tendered his resignation. His job prevents him from attending many of the meetings and he feels that he would not be able to devote enough time to properly carry out his duties with the Commission.
The Commission agreed that Tony Banfield should invite Ralph Ellifrit, past president of the Houston Planning Commission, to attend our next meeting. His many years of experience should be a great help to this Commission.
Curtis Morris recommended two changes in Ordinance #23, Subdivision Code: The following paragraphs are recommended to you for inclusion in the Subdivision Regulations. Under Section E, page 6, Add :"All lots shall have a minimum rear building set back of twenty (20) feet from the rear lot line. Detached garages, swimming pools, cabanas, etc. are excepted, and will be considered on an individual basis." Under Streets, page 4, Item 12, Add the following term,: "Dead end streets, g.r.___cul-de-_sacs shall not be longer.� •••••••••••••• "
Dean Saurenman moved that we accept Curtis Morris' proposed changes to Ordinance #23, and recommend them to the City Council. Tony Banfield seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion for recommendation to the City Council was made by Dean Saurenman to further amend Ordinance #23 to state that lot sizes remain 9600 square feet minimum and add: that they have a minimum average width of 8or. A.J. Block Jr. seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.
It is noted that Buck Hausman has made a statement of variance concerning a house in Village Green which is inadvertently too close to its side lot line.
A motion of recommendation to the City Council to establish a penalty for failure to follow Ordinance #23, Subdivision �ode, was carried unanimously.
A.J. Blocij Jr. motioned that City Council create an ordinance requiring that any billboard or advertising sign·over 10 square feet must be approved by the Planning Commission. Dean Saurenman seconded the motion and tt was carried unanmously.

Dean Saurenman made a motion-recommendation that City Council enact an ordinance like ,or the same as Texas Municipal League's Junk Dealer Ordinapce. A.J. Block Jr. seconded the motion. Motion carried unanmously.
The next Plamning Commission meeting is scheduled for July 27th.
