Meeting Minutes of April 11, 2017
Friendswood Public Library, Meeting Room'.

1. Call to order and roll call of Board Members
The meeting was called to order at 1:06 p.m.
Present: President Ron Cox, Vice President Alton Todd, Arden (Trey) Hill, Rebecca Hillenburg,
Elmer "Bubba"Johnson,Jr., Paul Marx, and Dr. Patrick McGinnis.
Staff members present: Karen Capps and Arnold Polanco
Also present: Joe Gonzalez, The Management Connection, Inc.
2. Consider and take action on approval of February 14, 2017 meeting minutes.
Motion by Paul Marx to approve the meeting minutes, second by Elmer Johnson. All in favor,
motion carried.
3. Discussion and possible action regarding utilizing HGAC training services to evaluate the
needs for downtown.
Rebecca Hillenburg stated that she recently attended a HGAC training session that was held for
the purpose of identifying and evaluating the pedestrian characteristics of an area. The board
asked that Staff contact HGAC and invite them to attend the next board.meeting to provide an
overview of available tools and services the city might access.
4. Discussion and possible action regarding planning and goal setting for the Friendswood
Downtown EDC.
Joe Gonzalez of the Management Connection, Inc. facilitated the meeting. The board discussed
goals, a draft vision and mission statement, and collecting data/information. Board members
will report back at next month's meeting.
S. Staff Updates.
Karen Capps gave an update on downtown commercial projects. City Attorney Polanco
provided a status update on the election contest.
6. Members comments.
Alton Todd requested a monthly Budget Report of revenue and expenditures once sales tax
revenue is received by the City.
7. Future meeting dates.
Tuesday, May 9 at 4 pm.
8. Adjournment
With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 4:22 pm.
