All applications for erection permits shall be accompanied by a plan or plans drawn to
scale which shall include the following:
The dimensions of the sign and, where applicable, the dimensions of the wall
surface of the building to which it is to be attached.
The dimensions of the sign's supporting members.
The.maximum and minimum height of the. sign.
The proposed location of the sign in relation to the face of the building in
front of which or above which it is to be erected.
The proposed location of the sign in relation to the boundaries of the lot
upon which it is to be situated.
The location of all electrical transmission lines within thirty (30) feet of
any part of such proposed sign structure.
You .must notify the Sign Inspector within five (5) business days after sign erection
is: completed for a final inspection. If sign is in compliance, Sign Use Permit will
be issued. All electrical permits must be obtained from the Building Inspector before
.Sign Use Permit will be issued.

DECEMBER 17, 1985
MINUTES OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF
FRIENDSWOOD THAT WAS HELD ON DECEMBER 17, 1985 AT CITY HALL AT
7: 00 P.M. WITH THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS PRESENT:
CHAIRMAN ED DYKES
REGULAR MEMBER TOM SULLIVAN
REGULAR MEMBER HAL TAYLOR
ALTERNATE MEMBER MARY ELLEN BELLARD
ALTERNATE MEMBER HOWARD YEAGER
ALTERNATE MEMBER STEVE JOHNSON
SECRETARY JANE TOLLETT
CHAIRMAN DYKES CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER AND APPOINTED MARY ELLEN
BELLARD, STEVE JOHNSON AND HOWARD YEAGER .AS REGULAR MEMBERS FOR
THIS MEETING. .
CHAIRMAN DYKES CALLED TO ORDER A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE
OF RECEIVING TESTIMONY FROM INTERESTED PERSONS REGARDING THE
REQUEST FROM TOM SULLIVAN, FROM PILGRIMS POINT SUBDIVISION, TO
REQUEST 2 ENTRANCE SIGNS FOR THE ABOVE SUBDIVISION.
MR. SULLIVAN STATED THAT EACH SIGN WILL BE A BRONZE PLAQUE, 1 1/2
FEET BY 2 FEET, AND WILL BE PLACED ON A BRICK WALL AT THE
ENTRANCE. HE NEEDED TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
BECAUSE ONLY ONE SIGN IS ALLOWED PER SUBDIVISION. DISCUSSION
FOLLOWED.
"MOTION WAS MADE BY HOWARD YEAGER TO GRANT THE VARIANCE. HAL
TAYLOR SECONDED. MOTION APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY.
CHAIRMAN DYKES STATED THAT HE HAD RECEIVED A MEMO FROM THE CITY
MANAGER CONCERNING BUILDING PERMITS IN FOREST BEND SUBDIVISION,
AS WELL AS IN FRIENDSWOOD. ALL MEMBERS OF THE BOARD WERE GIVEN A
COPY OF THE MEMO. THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE WILL BE MET BY THE
BUILDING DEPARTMENT: . IF A BUILDING PERMIT IS REQUESTED FOR A LOT
WHICH WAS EXISTING PRIOR TO PRESENT LOT SIZE REQUIREMENTS, - THE
PERMIT CANNOT BE DENIED. HOWEVER, SETBACK REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE
MOST RECENT ZONING ORDINANCE MUST BE ADHERED TO. IF THE
APPLICANT FOR THE BUILDING PERMIT FEELS THAT THE SETBACK
REQUIREMENT PLACES AN UNDUE HARDSHIP ON HIM, HE HAS THE RIGHT TO
APPEAL TO THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.
CHAIRMAN DYKES WAS ELECTED AS A MEMBER OF THE RECONCILATION
COMMITTEE BY A UNANIMOUS "DECISION. CHANGES THE BOARD OF
ADJUSTMENT WOULD LIKE TO SEE LOOKED INTO ARE THE ISSUING GF
BUILDING PERMITS IN WEDGEWOOD VILLAGE SUBDIVISION, A REVAMPING OF

THE SIGN ORDINANCE AND A GENERAL RULE FOR SET BACK LINES IN SMALL
OR ODD SHAPED LOTS. CHAIRMAN DYKES SAID HE WOULD KEEP THE
COMMITTEE INFORMED OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING.
THE MINUTES WERE PRESENTED AND APPROVED FROM NOV EMBER 26, 1985 .
MOTION WAS MADE AND SECONDED TO ADJOURN AT 7 : 40 P.M.
