Building Inspection Dept.
Friendswood City
Attn: Linda Taylor - Secretary, Inspection Dept.
Dear Ms . Taylor and to whom it may concern,
Please find enclosed, my yard layout and building plans for one
7 ' by 9' storage shed, in which I would like to submit for
approval .
I realize we are not to build any structures within 5 ' of the side
property line and 10 ' of the back line. However, I have a special
request to infringe on the restriction just a bit and would like to
explain my reasoning.
Please reference the yard layout with placement of the shed. Due to
the extremely small size of the back yard, space is critical . If the
structure is place 10 ' in from the back line property line and 5 '
from either side property line, I will virtually have no useful
yard remaining. In addition, the architectural cosmetics of my house
and yard would be destroyed due to the shed' s awkward placement, and
it would be an eye sore to the surrounding neighbors , as well . .
Additionally, I have checked with my neighbor of which the structure
would be placed closest and he has absolutely no problem with it.
I would like to point out that I do not have a fence along my back
property line and do not plan to put one up unless necessary. The
reason for this, is there is a vacant lot behind my property, and
apparently it is too small to build a house on. I feel, that a fence
along my back line would take away the spaciousness that gives this
end of the neighborhood its nice appearance.
I am asking for your approval to place this storage structure as
shown on the drawing. This would, not only enhance the appearance of
the neighborhood, but will also allow maximum yard-space utilization
and optimize the architectural cosmetics of my house & yard.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have.
You can reach me at 645-8369 during normal working hours, or
at 996-8110 for other.
Regards,
Philip J. Petersen
